Police: Santa Rosa fight, stabbing a result of mutual love interest

A fight between two people turned bloody when one stabbed the other, then was stabbed herself during the struggle, Santa Rosa police said Monday.

Both people were taken to hospitals.

Callers reported a fight in a parking lot outside of a Guerneville Road business at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday.

Officers went to the Justice PCS Internet Cafe and found Ernstine Louis-Jacques, 19, on the ground in the parking lot, bleeding heavily, said Santa Rosa Sgt. John Cregan.

She'd been stabbed twice in one leg.

The other person in the fight had gone but he called 911 several minutes later, saying he'd been stabbed and needed help.

Leonard James Martin, 41, had suffered an arm wound.

Officers determined Louis-Jacques, described as a transient, had started the fight because of a mutual attraction over a third person, the sergeant said.

She allegedly stabbed him and was wounded when he began to fight back.

Officers will ask the District Attorney's Office to file a charge of assault with a deadly weapon against her once she's released.
