Driver arrested after Napa hit-and-run crash

A Fairfield man was taken into custody and transported to a hospital with major injuries Saturday night after a hit-and-run collision on Napa's Silverado Trail.

The injured driver, Armando Nunez-Salgado, 35, is under investigation by sheriff's officers and the CHP regarding felony hit-and-run involving injury, evading and resisting arrest and failure to yield.

Sheriff's officers observed Nunez-Salgado driving recklessly, and failing to yield, in a green Chevy pickup truck southbound on Silverado, according to a CHP press release.

Nunez-Salgado crossed double yellow lines while trying to pass a 2006 Acura driven by Lacey Elizabeth McIntire-Campbell, 27, Santa Rosa, who was in the left-turn lane, preparing to make a left turn into Clos Du Val Winery, authorities said.

Nunez-Salgado's truck struck the left front of McIntire-Campbell's car.

The collision sent Nunez-Salgado's truck out of control and into a collision with a power pole, causing the truck to roll several times. After the truck came to rest, Nunez-Salgado left his truck and fled the scene, according to the report.

Nunez-Salgado was apprehended by officers from the Napa County Sheriff, Napa CHP and Napa police. He was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital with injuries from the traffic collision.

McIntire-Campbell sustained minor injuries and her two passengers were not injured.

The time of the accident was listed at 10:40 p.m.
