Build more prisons
EDITOR: The choice is clear: more prisons or more crime (“Justices back inmate release,” Saturday). Early release is not the answer.
When a violent offender is released after conviction because of insufficient prison space, all they money used to apprehend, try and convict that criminal is wasted.
Incarcerating criminals is not cheap but allowing them to return to society is dangerous and immoral since it threatens public safety.
We need to commit sufficient resources to building and operating prisons or risk the continuing collapse of the criminal justice system.
