Woman who died suspiciously identified

Petaluma Police are continuing to investigate the mysterious death of 30-year-old Rohnert Park resident Rebecca Lynn Castro, who was brought to Petaluma Valley Hospital early Tuesday morning.

According to police, Castro was unresponsive when an unidentified female driver brought her to the hospital. Castro was later pronounced dead from unknown causes.

Petaluma Lt. Tim Lyons said that dispatchers received an initial call about Castro being “despondent” from the driver of the vehicle that dropped her off at the hospital just after midnight on Tuesday.

The driver is cooperating with authorities and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the drive to the hospital.

Lyons said that the coroner's office was set to conduct an autopsy on Castro Wednesday, hoping to find a cause of death. A full toxicology report has been issued but could take at least a week to complete.
