Empire College recently named Mary Ellen Pastorino as director of education and Mark Kalagorgevich as assistant director of education for its School of Business. Pastorino joined Empire College in 2002 and most recently served as assistant director of education. Kalagorgevich has worked as an instructor in the business administration department since 2008.

Victoria Johnston was recently hired to manage the Sebastopol branch of Sonoma Bank. Johnston, who is president of the Sebastopol Sunrise Rotary Club, has 13 years of banking experience, most recently with Wells Fargo. She replaces Aleia Coate, who is now managing Sonoma Bank's main Santa Rosa branch. Sonoma Bank also hired Lisa Lemmons of Healdsburg as a loan officer at its Santa Rosa home loan division.

Graton Ridge Cellars recently hired Pat Paulson as assistant manager. Paulson has 16 years' experience in the wine industry at Korbel, Lake Sonoma Winery and Valley of the Moon Winery.

The Press Democrat's PD Media Lab has two new additions. Tara McGoldrick Walsh has been hired as content editor. Previously, she was an editor for O'Reilly Media and has also been a consultant for numerous Web startups, nonprofits and publishers. Crystal Jackson is PD Media Lab's social media optimization specialist. She has more than 10 years of experience in sales, marketing and brand development, including working in the wine industry as a tasting room and wine club manager.

Robert Rubin has been elected to the board of directors of the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation, a nonprofit that works to preserve, restore and inspire greater public appreciation for the Laguna's wetlands. Rubin is a professor of marine biology at Santa Rosa Junior College.

Tom Anderson, a retired management and training consultant from The Justice Consulting Institute, has been elected to the Goodwill Redwood Empire board of directors. Officers include Steve Jameson, chair; Mark Walsh, vice-chair; Joshua Schultz, treasurer; and Dennis Carrera, secretary.
