Driver hits phone pole, sets off 5-car pileup near Geyserville
Last Modified: Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 5:09 a.m.
A driver crashed into a telephone pole early Friday evening on Highway 128 near Geyserville Avenue, downing the pole and setting off a chain-reaction, five-car collision that closed the roadway for several hours.
Only minor injuries were reported, according to CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano.
Caggiano said an unidentified person in a black Dodge Intrepid was reported driving recklessly at about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 128 and Geyserville Avenue when the crash occurred.
The investigation was continuing. The road was expected to reopen by 9 p.m., and AT&T was working to restore the phone lines.
