Dressage in the Wine Country

  • (Marcie Lewis Photography)

Equestrian enthusiasts can enjoy great horsemanship and fine wine at the “Dressage in the Wine Country” event Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa.

Gates open at 1 p.m., with a trade fair featuring some 70 vendors until 7 p.m. Wine tasting will be offered from 4 to 6 p.m.

Starting at 6:30 p.m., there will be demonstrations dealing with horse health and care, followed at 7 p.m. by a performance featuring world-class riders in dressage and other disciplines.

Dressage is a highly disciplined form of riding, in which horse and rider, as a team, are expected to perform a series of choreographed, precision movements with little visible evidence of the effort involved.

Admission: $25-$45. Information: 536-1842, winecountrydressage.org.
